Corns & Calluses

Two common spots that we get on our feet are called “corns” and “calluses”. These are caused by a repeat in friction on one place on the foot. This friction causes the skin’s outer layer in that area to die, creating a hard layer of skin that is called keratin.

The main difference between corns & calluses is that corns have a “core” that extends into deeper tissue. The core is usually very painful than the surrounding tissue.
Corns & calluses often require professional care to remove the layers of hard tissue without causing damage to the surrounding skin. Depending on how deep they are, corns and calluses may be treated with topical medication or may require trimming with a surgical instrument to provide better results.
