Heel Pain

Heel pain is a common problem for people of all ages. Heel pain is often a ‘catch-all term’ for any condition that can occur around the heel, often causing chronic discomfort. Conditions such as Plantar Fasciitis and heel spurs can cause pain and inflammation in your foot. This in turn often affects your ability to complete day-to-day activities. Symptoms include pain at the base of the heel, pain when standing up after rest or sleeping, burning and tightness in the arch of the foot. Of course, there are several other causes of heel pain such as stress fractures, bursitis, achilles damage, growth plate damage (children), bad shoes and more.

The doctor will start by taking a complete history and performing a foot and ankle examination, taking care to evaluate footwear, and sometimes even taking x-rays. Typically, conservative treatment is tried first and is often successful; however, Dr. Teufel typically determines an accurate diagnosis and then provides a list of available treatment options that best fit the individual patient. Please call or schedule an appointment online with Arkansas Foot & Ankle Specialists to be treated for this problem.
